[CHISINAU, MOLDOVA, July 16] - FFW is proud to announce its sponsorship of the fifth annual GirlsGoIT summer camp.

Held from July 19 to July 28, the program mentors girls and young women between 14 and 20 years of age who are interested in entering a career in digital development. Students will spend 10 days learning introductory HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python, and will also gain experience with product prototyping for 3D printing and electronics.

“Supporting initiatives like GirlsGoIT is important to us,” said Nancy Stango, Global COO and Americas CEO of FFW. “As a company that works with open source software and embraces the open source philosophy, supporting our local communities and encouraging the next generation of talent to grow is a key part of our mission.”

In addition to sponsoring the event, FFW team members are volunteering their time to speak and share their knowledge at the camp.

GirlsGoIT was founded to encourage girls to enter careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and is focused on empowering girls and young women in and through technology to have better futures in education and employment. GirlsGoIT has chapters across Eastern Europe, and hosts a wide variety of seasonal camps and bootcamps. At the end of each program, GirlsGoIT helps interested participants find internships with local employers so they can continue building their skills and gaining career experience.

"The tech industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. Technology users come from amazing diverse backgrounds and it is critical that the companies delivering this technology be as diverse as their audience,” said Chris Locher, Vice President of Delivery at FFW. “Employers need to embrace the creativity, imagination, and critical thinking skills of the diverse group of people whom technology serves. Initiatives like GirlsGoIT are essential to the success of high-tech companies and the future of technology.”
