VisitDenmark is the largest tourist platform in the country, helping tourists find resources to plan, book and experience holidays in Denmark. The site offers maps, transportation advice, and highlights things to do. The website also provides information about Denmark, including geography, climate, famous sights and attractions, cultural activities, events, and wildlife.
VisitDenmark had over 70 multi-language websites and needed to consolidate their data onto a new Drupal content management system. The new site needed to include tourism features on their original sites that could be enabled or disabled by content managers. Our team was also asked to integrate over 25,000 products from an external provider. FFW was under a tight deadline of only six months to complete this project since VisitDenmark wanted a solution ready to launch before the summer.
Drupal System Maximizes Customization
FFW created a complex system that required our team to develop an entirely new web strategy. We built a new Drupal site for VisitDenmark with adaptive design featuring two themes so the website is accessible on multiple devices. This new system allows content to be utilized by tourism offices or configured for any user, so VisitDenmark can customize content to fit their needs. We built theming options to adjust font, and color scheme and helped organize VisitDenmark’s social media platforms and integrate them into the site. Our team integrated several third party applications to create a customizable, powerful site that could support an influx of visitors when the tourist season began in the summer. We also integrated user-friendly multi-lingual capabilities so the site could reach audiences around the world.
Stable and Fast
VisitDenmark now has a secure, stable, fast platform that meets their needs for high performance and flexibility. FFW’s custom settings make the solution as easy and flexible as possible for content managers. The new site is now available in 15 different languages, and code optimization and FFW support ensures the site’s stability and security. VisitDenmark’s new site is visual and theme based, encouraging users to participate in campaigns and investigate further to see what Denmark has to offer. The new site has several third party systems integrated, like a booking system, a product database with more than 25,000 products (locations, sights, accommodations, etc.) This includes Varnish cache, which helps the site move more quickly and efficiently, and social media content such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Youtube, and Pinterest. Our Varnish cache servers supported nearly 20 million visits, making the new VisitDenmark site a true destination for users all around the world.
