Drupal Learning is Pura Vida Mae
Drupal 8 Solutions Engineer, Jesus Manuel Olivas represented FFW at July's Drupal Camp Costa Rica
Pura Vida Mae is a Costa Rican saying, it’s the country's most unique and popular phrase which is mostly used as a positive response in all kinds of situations and in this case perfectly describes my experience at Drupal Camp Costa Rica.
I was lucky enough to be invited by the organization to attend this year’s Camp. It was my third consecutive year attending and once again the event was full of learning in the midst of an amazing community.
This year I presented on three different topics:
- Introduction to Symfony 2 The idea behind this talk was to show how to create an application using Symfony 2. I was able to use one of my previous projects and do a live demonstration showing participants the meaning behind code that I used on the project.
- The Symfony Way This session was a walk through to some of the most important concepts and components behind Symfony 2. The session also explained how a developer can get started using them while working with Symfony, Silex and Drupal 8.
- Drupal 8 Console Scaffolding Module Generator This was a demo on how to create a Drupal 8 module using the Console project. Also for the first time, I provided a detailed explanation on how to contribute to the project.
Once again Drupal agencies from the Costa Rica community and surrounding areas participated and showed their support such as Phase 2, Four Kitchens, Pantheon, Anexus IT, Manatí and freelance developers from the Latin American community.
Training and session topics varied from basic to advanced Drupal sessions to a look at what is coming in Drupal 8. New tools related to front end like SASS, AngularJS, NodeJS, Grunt and Bower were also mentioned throughout the Camp. If you’re interested in a more detailed list of what was discussed, check it out here.
